Simeon took Jesus in his arms and praised God, saying, “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation.” Luke 2:28-30 (NIV)
I was struck by the first part of this verse. “Simeon took Jesus in his arms.” Of course Jesus was a baby then, but imagine now being able to warmly and secure possess Jesus in your arms right now. Clenching to Him in the midst of your anxieties, fears, doubts, lack of confidence. You know He wants too. There is constant encouragement in the Gospel’s from Jesus saying “Behold the Son!”
Better yet imagine with me the outcome when we look at Him, even with a single glance. If our emotions woudl be stired with excitement by getting to hold Him in the midst of our struggle, hear what happens to Jesus when we just glance at Him.
“You have made my heart beat faster, my sister, my bride;You have made my heart beat faster with a single glance of your eyes…” SGS 4:9
Wow!!! He is that excited about me looking at Him. That is amazing, He is the God of the universe and much greater and bigger than Me, yet I am a poor wretched man living half the time in my own self-righteousness, yet He isn’t ashamed of me, but encourages us to look at Him and embrace Him.
Look to Jesus today and embrace Him.

Oh! I’m so glad that you are talking about this!! This subject has been boggling my mind for the past few weeks! While I was reading “Captivating” I am coming to know Jesus as my Lover, my Husband who wants to pursue me and hold me and carress me and tell me I’m beautiful every second of the day! I just wish that every woman (and man) truly knew how much Jesus ADORED them! The way that I, as a woman, want to be adored is the same way the the GOD OF THE UNIVERSE longs to be adored! I honestly think that the most exciting part about my revelation is knowing that God wants to be sought after and chased after they way that I want to be sought after and chased after! Just look at Jeremiah 29:13 “Seek me and you will find me when you seek me with all of your heart”! Now, just imagine a woman saying that to her husband and she is crying out to him, saying “Please pursue me! I WANT TO BE PURSUED! I will be more beautiful to you if you look deep in side of me!” *faints* wow! Our God loves us SO much that He desires OUR love and affection and attention! Wow! *deep breath* Ok, it’s so much to take in, and OH! How I love to take it all in!
If you haven’t read “Captivating” by John and Stasi Eldredge, I think that you should, it will not only give you an insite into women but also to the very HEART of God! They also wrote a book about men that is called “Wild At Heart” and I am very anxious to read that one next!
